NATIONAL MARTIAL ARTS MELA

The Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Center for Kalarippayattu and Siddhar Tradition at Trinity College of Engineering, Trivandrum in association with Agasthyam Kalari is excited to present the first National Martial Arts Mela in Trivandrum on October 7th and 8th, 2022. This Mela is part of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India’s Dhara scheme and is organized with the support of the Ministry of Education’s IKS Division of the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

ABOUT THE MELA

The grand 2-day mela will involve seminars and panel discussions about the inclusion of martial arts in education and lifestyle in modern times, informational displays, demonstrations, interactive sessions and so on. It will culminate in a 3 hour long spectacular martial arts variety performance show with teams from different parts of the country. There will be nearly a month-long celebration online leading to the Mela with the theme of “Swa Raksha, Sah Raksha, Rashtra Suraksha” highlighting the importance of self-defense training for each citizen.

VISION & MISSION

IKS Kalari aims to consolidate, systematize and innovate the ancient Indian knowledge system. To bring the warrior mindset of calm alertness and an energetic approach to day-to-day life.
We designed these authentic training programs in a way that allows people of all ages anywhere in the world to benefit from Kalari system. Along with an accessible database of this knowledge on different media that can be used to create courses, conduct further research, and inspire future generations.

WHERE & WHEN

There will be a martial arts procession through the city on October 8th culminating in the Nisha Gandhi auditorium, the centrally located largest venue in the city for a 3 hour long martial arts performance extravaganza.

All the major schools and organisations in the district will be participating.

The departments of culture, sports, tourism, health and education along with the city administration will be supporting the event.

The message of the Mela is Swa Raksha, Saha Raksha, Rashtra Suraksha with self-defence and enlightened warriors leading to national integration and security.

The culminating event will also be the inauguration of the national Kalarippayattu Championship featuring over 300 state champions from across the country.
